1. Navigating Route 102
Route 102 is your first taste of the trainer battles that await you. As you step into the route, prepare to be challenged by a variety of trainers, each with their unique lineup of Pokémon. These battles are great opportunities to level up your team and gain experience.
In between these battles, don’t forget to catch the wild Pokémon lurking in the grass. Pokémon like Ralts, a Psychic/Fairy type, can be a great addition to your team.
2. Arrival in Petalburg City
As you emerge from Route 102, you’ll be greeted by the seaside charm of Petalburg City. Heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center before embarking on your city exploration.
3. Visiting Petalburg City’s Gym
Petalburg City is home to the game’s fifth Gym, led by your father, Norman. While it’s too early to challenge him, visiting the Gym will trigger a useful encounter. Here, you’ll meet Wally, a young boy who wants to catch his first Pokémon. You’ll help him catch a Ralts, which will serve as a tutorial on how to catch Pokémon.
4. Exploring Petalburg City
Take time to explore Petalburg City. The town folk often share useful tips. You can learn about status conditions at the Pokémon Center, and at the southwest house, you can learn about Pokémon natures.
5. Moving on to Route 104
After exploring Petalburg City, head west to Route 104, your next adventure. But before that, be sure to stock up on supplies from the Poké Mart and heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center.
