Sonic 3 – EXE Edition has the Blue Blur Sonic in a terrifyingly dark avatar, Sonic.EXE. His buddies, Tails and Knuckles, join him in a battle against Dr. Eggman. The race is on to procure the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic and his pals plan to stop Dr. Eggman as he nefariously plans to use the emeralds for a darling purpose: To conquer the universe.

The Golden Rings are a lifeline. Collect all of them lying scattered across the landscape.

The Sonic version in the game is a sadist with red eyes, an evil grin, and hungry for souls
The Green Hill Zone is not a thriving landscape but a decaying one.
