The game is called Mega Man X3, which is set in the future. It shows our world in an era where humans are living with robots called Reploids. However, there are some evil robots who have intentions of taking over the world, they are labeled as Mavericks. So, you have to help Mega Man find the scientist who has built these Mavericks, get rid of him and his invention for good! All the best!
